Feed and evolve in Vampyr’s action-filled new gameplay trailer
Vampyr, the upcoming action-RPG from DONTNOD Entertainment, explores tortured protagonist Dr. Jonathan Reid’s growth in power through savage combat gameplay in today’s Becoming the Monster gameplay trailer. By sacrificing the very citizens Reid swore to protect, players will learn and evolve powerful vampire abilities in their struggle to defeat London’s deadly foes. Vampyr releases June 5 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with preorders now available.
In Vampyr, the greatest source of XP to learn and enhance abilities comes from the blood of London’s citizens, who Dr. Jonathan Reid has set out to save from the epidemic sweeping through the city. The question is less “Do I kill?” than “Who do I kill?” Investigating citizens’ lives will allow Reid to decide who is more ‘deserving’ of sacrifice – or he can simply give in to his hunger and treat the mortals as blood bags. Either way, killing certain citizens will have a greater impact on the local ecosystem than others, while simply killing too many may cause an entire district to collapse.
After draining the blood of his victims, Reid can learn and evolve powerful combat abilities. Close combat abilities allow Reid to close gaps quickly, pouncing from afar before slashing with deadly claws, while others such as Bloodspear allow him to deal damage from a distance. At the higher levels of power, some abilities are feared by even the vampires themselves. Abyss allows Reid to unleash the shadows from within, while Rage targets and strikes entire groups of enemies with a terrible fury. Learning and evolving these abilities will aid in the doctor’s quest to save London – but at what cost?

I hope this game isn't pathetic enough to keep this vampire in human form the entire game. I'm not wasting my cash on a game that restricts you to generic pretty boy twilight mode,rather than letting you transition into an actual giant demonic bat(The way vampires are actually meant to be portrayed).
Those enemy HP bars are a bit much.

really hope the story is incredible, the gameplay worries me, but if the story gets me sucked in I can ignore gameplay that really is just there to get me to more story.

I really like this game. I feel it like the sum of the best things in Undertale, God of War, and GTA: everything you do have a direct consecuence, you can explore the whole map and pretty much chose if you do small quest, main story or farming, and the abilities and fighting dynamics are pretty fun. The art&music is very nice as well. 10/10 IMO, I´m glad it exceded sales expectations
This wasn't one of my favorite games I'll admit but it was a pretty good game. The weakest aspect of the game would probably be the combat and mobility of the game. Let me explain. I'm sorry but I was expecting to be able to jump rooftops with parkour climbing and sneak through houses like a blood sucking assassin I am. Speaking of assassin, I was expecting the combat to be a lot like assassin's creed. I always loved the combat were you could Parry attacks and punch weapon combos and grab enemy's and hold them at knife point. I'm sorry but the combat was just a little wonky. I liked the stamina aspect but It was a little weird when random human enemy's would automatically attack you for no reason. I also would have liked to see more animals that you could feed on when just walking down the streets. Maybe stray cats, dogs and also pigeons. So basically, what I was expecting from this game was, Assassin's Creed Cydicate mixed with sherlock holmes and maybe a little more of a shooting action other than just pressing a button to shoot. I also would have liked to see if we could shape shift into random goons, NPCs, animals and possibly use those characters items that they have on them to do something that your character normally wouldn't be able to do or get into a small spot that you normally wouldn't be able to get into. Meaning that say a door was locked so instead of killing a guard and losing his corpse to get the key you could possess him and control him and have him unlock the door. And with animals say you needed to get into an enclosed area and find a way to unlock a pathway for your character to continue there venture. If they ever made a vampyr 2 I would love to see these changes. Oh I almost forgot I would also love the action to dismantle unneeded weapons in your inventory because I feel that the weapons to get too much space and you don't know where the weapon that you were using is located and you get it confused with another weapon. I was also thinking that this game could use a little more exploration meaning that you could possibly get out of the city and maybe explore some forests or stuff like that or even sail a boat. There was also a feature that I really liked in the new God of war 4 where if you unequipped your weapon meaning if you used your bare hands to fight enemies you could produce stun meaning that you could do possibly finishers on enemies. I would also like to see more finishers instead of just biting cuz biting is very helpful and certain situations say you just need more health blood or stamina those are good but it doesn't really do any thing to really affect the enemy you're doing it too it only takes a little bit of damage off them I would feel that it would possibly be as I said in execution move where you can instantly kill them or especially move where you can do some massive damage to them as well. But all in all I would say that this game was pretty good again as I said not my favorite game (mainly because this is the only vampire game I've every played) but a game that had some potential in certain areas.
